"A New Day Has Arrived"

November 15, 2013

"A FALL DAY IN IOWA" photo by June (c) 2011

Here in Texas we're enjoying what looks like, cooler weather, which helps me enjoy even more the upcoming Thanksgiving Events and onward to Christmas. Hopefully we will continue to experience even much cooler weather. Of course, this is my favorite time of the year.

The Holidays can often be depressing for some people, depending on their circumstances. Reaching out to others is one way to cure that. And there certainly are many people who need an encouraging word, smile or warm meal.

Whatever you do this Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, I hope you are well and encouraged to look at the positive things in life, rather than focusing on the negative.

I've been traveling quite a bit this year, but I haven't neglected my writing. Now I am traveling in the land of Etainia as I am in the process of finishing my novel, "Soil" --- Book II in THE TREES OF ETAINIA Trilogy.

It's been extremely busy these last few weeks with writing, editing, writing, editing... I've realized that because of so many characters that have developed, I must add a small 'glossary' in Book II. The cover design is done and I'm fine tuning a couple of characters. Ideally, it would be published by Christmas this year...but realistically it might be closer to January 2014 --- Time will tell.

Nevertheless, I am on the finish line! Book II has been much more challenging, plus events in life have thrown a few curves. Seedling followers and newcomers...Book II is almost finished!! Plus, I plan on
forging ahead into Book III immediately. Check back on any of my websites for updates of when and where to purchase. In the meantime...thanks for your support! This author is very excited to get these books into your hands and has not forgotten those who are patiently waiting. You won't be disappointed.

A Fresh Start

January 15, 2013

"Sunny Florida Day" by June (c) 2008

Do you realize every moment of the day gives you a brand new opportunity to begin 'anew'?  It all begins in your thought life..then comes an action...then the results manifest. For example; perhaps you might want to pursue a new career.  There's the thought ~ then you research the area you want to go into = the action.  Of course the action continues as you refine and express your goals and dreams.  Perhaps you write your ideas on paper or record them or send yourself a text or email as a reminder.  Then you might ponder and mull over your options.  Soon after - the pursuit begins.  While pursuing you weigh the pros and cons - the possible limitations and the unlimited possibilities.

Eventually over time there will be results.  In the process you will discover something about yourself.  You might find out that you have a new appreciation for the career you are in.  On the other hand, you may have discovered a new courage within your character and are going to 'go for the gold'.  Every person has their own moments which are sections of time.  You can let them go by without much thought, or you can take some of those moments and look for a brand new opportunity in your life.  A new career?  A new hobby? A new relationship? A new home?  The list is endless.

                                                                             What are you waiting for?

Thanksgiving is a Daily Event

November 16, 2012
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, we are especially reminded to be thankful for what we have. In some cases many people have lost loved ones and it's a painful time. There is no quick cure for that pain...only time. I have found that when I reach out to others during my most painful moments...it helps to take my mind away from trying to change things I can never change.

Regrets also drift through minds during this season and the words, "if only, if only, if only." A good thought to remember is from the Serenity Prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Yesterday I had a wonderful time at an assisted living center during their holiday festivities. Seeing people of all ages chattering, laughing and sharing their stories was delightful! Giving time to (really) listen to another person is a great gift you can give. Money and positions come and go...but you can't replace moments of time. Once used up...they are gone. Sure, another opportunity will come through, but not in the same way. No two moments are the same. So as these days approach, think about ways you can give to others...and maybe, just maybe ~ it will add a little peace to your heart.

The Leaves are Sleeping

October 26, 2012

I took this photo last year in Arkansas. I never grow tired of looking at the leaves when they are the most beautiful - in the fall. They are dying, preparing to drop to the ground. Yet in their most colorful state of death, they are giving life to the soil...replenishing it...preparing it for the next year of growth.

Sometimes without realizing it - in our most difficult, trying and 'deathlike' experiences of our lives, we are actually producing vital life-giving strength within our souls. Of course, it doesn't feel like we could ever help anyone during the time of our struggles. But, when the dust settles and time helps to heal our wounds...we are often able to give out encouraging thoughts to others.

Like the leaves, we live through the seasons of our lives. Each season and event - good or not so good - affects the next season. Our struggle at times is letting go of the season that is over. Mentally challenging thoughts of the past often interfere with moving forward. Yet, many of those thoughts must die...so we can continue to replenish the soil of our thoughts and hearts.

So we can enjoy life once again ~ looking for the beauty in the dying places of the soil within our hearts. . .

Moments in Time

August 1, 2012
"Moments are sections of Time. Although you may have suffered many setbacks throughout your lifetime, learn to treasure what you have learned.  Hidden in many obstacles are opportunities. No matter what happened in the past...you can still dream today. Today is new.  The world is full of possibilities if you will let your imagination soar. Don't let yourself be dragged down by fear or a negative self-image. Dare to dream today and then step out to make those dreams come true!"

We all have everyday routines that are necessary to take care of - it's part of life.  Perhaps sometimes the routines seem to be going nowhere.  For example: Working out day after day can seem like a drudgery and the results are not instant.  In this culture of 'instant gratification' people often quit just when the results are about to appear.  A week may go by with little change and then soon, the weight begins to fall off, the body becomes firmer and your step is a bit lighter - less stressful.

Think about it.  If we didn't do the 'day by day' events, things would begin to collapse.  Not brushing your teeth everyday can cause cavities to form.  Not cleaning the house on a regular basis will open the door to sickness and even bug invasion.  Not going to work everyday would cause a loss of income and that would affect everything.

But, focusing on the results while we're doing the 'daily' routines, will make it easier to do them.  Don't let the everyday routines rob you of your joy.  Everything you do in life affects something or someone else...and that's important.  In the meantime, be sure to take mini one day vacations. Go out and enjoy some different type of activity.  Set up some outdoor/indoor activities to look forward to.  It will help you keep your joy as you do the 'not so fun but necessary' things in life.    En-JOY your day!

"It's not just the size of this tree that makes it so spectacular, although it certainly is huge and breathtaking. It is the Wisdom that this tree carries that makes it so special."(Tiny Seedlings...their journey (c) 2009 p.154)

As a child, we often look at the people who dress well, are attractive and make good money as successful.  We usually don't explore the inner workings of people...we just mainly focus on what is on the outside.  But then, when a form of adulthood arrives (or we stumble into it) we realize there is more to a 'book' so to speak, than it's cover.  Point being...what is the value of material possessions, position and money if we don't have the wisdom on how to use them?  How many times have we seen people win or inherit wealth and then watch them squander it away because of the lack of wisdom?

Today in this 'instant' and 'fast paced' society, people often react quickly without taking the time to ponder and evaluate certain situations - therefore making decisions that have lasting negative effects.  Although the pressures around you may be pushing and pulling you - be sure to seek out someone who has wisdom to help you along the way. Learn from other truly internally successful people. Ask them how they attained wisdom and seek it out for youself...so one day when another comes into your life seeking wisdom...you'll be able to give it.

April Showers Bring More Flowers

April 1, 2012
April.     Springtime!
Have you ever stood out in a gentle rain while the sun was shining and there was a rainbow in sight?  There is a freshness that is felt and the sound of the rain is comforting...as if everything will be allright.  But, when the heavier storms arise, with their dark forboding clouds and multiple lightening strikes - that same sense of peace is not there.

Whether it's a gentle rain or a fierce storm, once the rains settle down the buds on the trees are waking up and the flowers begin to unfold to reveal their many colors, inviting the birds and bees to have a feast. The color green is lush in the gardens and fields.  It's a wonderful time of believing in new beginnings.  Yet, it's even more important to have that same sense of wonder and hope for new beginnings inside our souls, regardless of the weather outside.  Our perception from the inside out will determine how we look at things.  So this day, I hope you will focus on the good things in life and continue to hope regardless of the storms that may be going on around you.  And someday - during a gentle rain, you might want to go outside and let it remind you that there are opportunities of 'new beginnings' - all year long and beyond.

You are a Work-in-Progress

March 17, 2012

We are all a work-in-progress.  It's important to keep this in mind.  Otherwise, at various seasons of our lives, we may think there's nothing more to look forward to. Your past experiences, your present situations and your future expectations, all effect how you feel about yourself. In each season of your life you have made choices - some good and some not so good.  Often people lock their own self image into one particular season of their life.  Keep the bigger picture in mind.  You decide how you want to be defined.  Letting go of the past will help you find your future dreams while you live in the 'now' moments of your life.

The Author

"Essays in school were my favorite test questions. Little did I know that one day I would be writing poems, self-help books and now a fantasy trilogy. Sometimes if we just take a quick look back in time, we'll find a lost or stolen dream that was so hidden, even we didn't see it."
